UI VICE CHANCELLOR LAYS FOUNDATION OF YET ANOTHER STUDENTS HOSTEL UNDER THE PPP INITIATIVE

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, has affirmed the commitment of his administration towards ensuring that UI Students do not lack good and conducive accommodation, which according to him, will enhance their academic success. Prof. A.A. Olayinka, FAS, was speaking at the foundation laying ceremony of yet another hostel – (the 90 room Palm 77 Students Hostel) in the University of Ibadan today, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Initiative. The 90-room female Hostel is being financed by the Managing Director of Palms 77 Hotels, Alhaja Taofikat Babayemi. In her remark, Alhaja Babayemi stated that the intervention is aimed at reducing the accommodation challenges encountered by female students while striving to achieve academic excellence in UI. She reiterated her team’s commitment toward making the hostel of International standard while also appreciating the Management for the opportunity given to be a part of the PPP initiative. Lauding the efforts of the UI Management towards solving the accommodation problem in UI was a parent, Mrs. Olukemi Okeowo, who was present at the Foundation laying ceremony. Mrs. Okeowo who attended the stakeholders’ forum in April where accommodation issues were extensively discussed, appreciated the Vice Chancellor for facing the challenge headlong and tackling it. The highlight of the occasion was the foundation laying ceremony which was done by the Vice Chancellor.
