I AM PERSUADED OF THE QUALITY OF OUR INTAKES - UI VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. A.I. Olayinka FAS, at the Matriculation Ceremony for the 2017/2018 intakes, expressed his confidence at the quality of Students admitted for the academic session. This, he said was on account of the rigorous and transparent screening involved in the admission process. While congratulating the matriculants, the Vice Chancellor stated that out of the 26, 769 and 2,659 students who applied for admission through UTME and Direct entry respectively, only 3,514 and 446 were admitted. The ceremony which took place on Friday 04, 2018 at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan had the hall filled to capacity with excited matriculants and overjoyed parents/guardians.

The Vice Chancellor while addressing the matriculants, enjoined them to observe all the rules and regulations of the Institution. He warned them against drug abuse and cultism, while highlighting the efforts of the University to tackle these menace. Matriculation lecturer, Dr. Demola Sogunle (CEO Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc), himself an alumnus of the institution, encouraged the students to strive towards excellence both in their academic pursuits and in life. He highlighted factors that would help them achieve this in his very inspiring presentation entitled: “Start well and finish great”. The highlight of the event was when the students swore to the matriculation oath, after which they were encouraged to sign the register of their various faculties, thereby becoming bonafide students of the University.
