WE MAKE EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE BEST INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES IN UI – DVC (RISP)

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership), Prof Oluyemisi Bamgbose has reiterated the continued and sustained efforts to provide the best international programmes for international students in the University of Ibadan. Prof Bamgbose made this statement during the welcome/orientation programmes for International students organized by the Office of International Programmes (OIP) recently. Recalling how UI has had a long history of internalization, which dates back to its inception, the DVC (RISP) stated that collaborations with international institutions, government and non-governmental organisations remain the University’s priority, hence the establishment of the Office of International programmes (OIP) in 2009 to further establish and sustain partnerships and linkages to the world. Prof. Bamgbose welcomed the students, expressing the delight of the University to have them, and assuring them that they are in the right place and in safe hands. While welcoming the students, the Director of OIP, Prof Ayotola Aremu, stated that the programme was to familiarize them with the University (management and staff, operations, places and happenings) and to guide them on their academic programmes, as well as how to settle and enjoy their stay in the University. She assured them that more of such fora would still hold, where they would be able to explore the rich cultural heritage we all share as humankind. The students were walked through different topical issues relevant to them and their stay on campus, including Their academic work in the University of Ibadan, Making the best of their stay on campus as well as interactive sessions on University Health services, Banking services, passages and protocol issues. One of the highlights of the occasion was the colourful introduction of the students, who held their respective national flags with great pride. Present at the occasion were the DVC (Academic), Prof Aderonke Bayeroju, who delivered a goodwill message, Provost of the Postgraduate College, Prof. Jonathan Babaloa, represented by the former Deputy Dean (Academics) of the College, Dr Kayode Samuel, Director, Centre for Petroleum, Economics and Law (CPEEL), Prof O.E. Olubusuyi. Others include the Director, University Advancement Centre, Mr A. A. Adeosun, Director, University Health Services, Dr Ronke Ajav, Mrs Nowa Badejo of the First Bank PLC, the Protocol and Passages Officer, Mr Kayode Jolayemi, as well as other stakeholders in the Internationalisation programmes of the University, including Heads of Departments among others.
